Hope you are all enjoying this year of 2005. We hope it will hold happiness and health for all.
The shocking news of The Tsunami Disaster left all of us in mourning but the most beautiful thing happened as a result of such a terrible tragedy…our hearts were opened and much compassion was sent forth.
People all over the world raised funds to send their help. Dan , Wendy Shaer and Debi Fitzgerald organized a musical concert and art auction to do their share. Debi donated an original entitled Back Bay Encounter. The King Street Centre for the Arts in Millbrook Ontario is where they hosted the function. Thanks to the artists who gave of themselves when asked … Andres Paabo, Kris Nahrgang, Michael Dumas, Jean Tovey, Stanford Taylor, Jean James, Kelly O'neil, Freddy Taylor, Eddie Lepage and many more. We would like to give a special thanks to The Art Shop in Lakefield and the Young's point General Store in Young's Point for their gift certificates and their generosity!
Last year Debi attended the Ducks Unlimited Dinner in Trinity Bay, Bona Vista, Newfoundland, as their feature artist. She donated an original entitled The Guiding Light, (a lighthouse from Cape Spear) . This year in the fall she has been invited again and will have an original of Labs for auction! As soon as it is completed it will be posted on the web for a preview viewing!
Watch for Robina Salter's new book entitled The Golden Eye. Debi has the honour of illustrating her beautiful, inspirational Children's story. Robina's first novel was entitled Hannah. She is a very accomplished author. Debi and Robina's hearts connected when they met. The rest of the story is yet to unfold.
At Christmas Debi had a most beautiful time with her family in England. She also had the opportunity to meet up again with Kevin Binning, one of the musicians who created the music for The Healing Journey. So many people loved their last CD and will be happy to know there is more music coming!
Debi's new book in progress is coming along wonderfully. She now has half of the 60 images ready and is looking forward to paddling on all the lakes she can this summer with her dog, Promise (picture on the home page). If you are thinking about having your lake or cottage setting painted please contact Debi as she may be able to include your image in her book!
